Wildfires Blaze Across Central Oregon, Firefighters Battle to Contain

Multiple Fires Ignited by Lightning Strikes

Wildfires continue to rage across Central Oregon, fueled by thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the blazes, which have already scorched thousands of acres. As of this writing, there are 10 active fires burning in the region, including the following:

  • The Two Bulls Fire, burning near Redmond, has grown to over 4,000 acres and is 5% contained.
  • The B&B Complex Fire, burning near Sisters, has burned over 2,500 acres and is 0% contained.
  • The Jack Fire, burning near Crescent, has burned over 1,000 acres and is 15% contained.

Evacuations Ordered, Resources Deployed

Evacuations have been ordered for several communities in the affected areas, and residents are urged to follow the instructions of local authorities. The Oregon Office of Emergency Management has activated the state's Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the response to the wildfires.

Hundreds of firefighters are battling the blazes, supported by aircraft and other resources. The Oregon Department of Forestry has deployed over 500 firefighters, and the National Interagency Fire Center has sent additional crews and equipment.

Extreme Fire Danger, Public Urged to Exercise Caution

The Oregon Department of Forestry has issued an Extreme Fire Danger warning for much of Central Oregon. The public is urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid any activities that could spark a fire. This includes campfires, barbecues, and fireworks.
