Daikin World Air Survey: Houston Takes the Lead in Global Air Conditioner Usage

40% of Houstonians Run Their ACs 24/7

Houston, Texas, emerged as the global leader in air conditioner usage in Daikin's inaugural World Air Survey.

The survey, which examined the awareness and cultures related to air conditioners and air among 12 major cities worldwide, found that an astonishing 40% of Houstonians use their air conditioners for 24 hours a day during the summer months. This is the highest usage rate among the cities surveyed, and it reflects the city's hot and humid climate.

In addition to the high usage rate, the survey also found that Houstonians use their air conditioners for an average of 172 hours per month when spending all day at home. This is significantly higher than the average of 120 hours per month reported by other cities. The high usage rate in Houston is likely due to the city's long and hot summers, which can make it uncomfortable to spend extended periods of time outdoors.

The survey also found that 41% of Houstonians are concerned about the environmental impact of their air conditioner use. This is a higher percentage than in other cities, and it reflects the growing awareness of the need to reduce energy consumption.

Daikin's World Air Survey provides valuable insights into the awareness and cultures related to air conditioners and air among major cities worldwide. The survey's findings can help businesses and policymakers develop programs and policies to improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of air conditioner use.
