LSU's Cade Beloso Plays Hero Again with Go-Ahead Hit
OMAHA, Neb. -- A day after giving up the most runs ever in a College World Series game, Louisiana State cranked up its offense and rode the arm of Cade Beloso to a 9-4 victory over Florida in Game 3 of their semifinal series on Monday night.
Beloso, a redshirt senior, played the role of hero once again for LSU, hitting his second go-ahead hit of the series in the fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie. The Tigers added two more runs in the fifth and never looked back.
LSU will now face Stanford in the best-of-three College World Series finals, which begin on Tuesday night.
Florida, which had won the first two games of the series, was led by Jud Fabian, who went 2-for-4 with a home run. However, the Gators were unable to overcome LSU's 13-hit attack.
LSU starter Landon Marceaux allowed three runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings, while reliever Devin Fontenot pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Florida starter Hunter Barco allowed five runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
With the victory, LSU advances to the College World Series finals for the first time since 2017. The Tigers will be looking to win their first national championship since 2009.
